Thank you for choosing Top Cat Services | Glass.
A little regular care can help keep your glass looking clear, operating properly, and lasting longer. Use the tips below as a general guide for everyday maintenance.
Everyday Glass Cleaning
For routine cleaning, use a soft microfiber cloth with a mild glass cleaner or a small amount of dish soap mixed with water.
Avoid abrasive pads, powders, or harsh chemicals that may scratch the surface or damage specialty coatings.
After cleaning, dry the glass with a clean cloth or squeegee to help reduce streaking and mineral deposits.
Protecting Glass Surfaces
Glass can be durable, but it still needs to be protected from unnecessary impact and scratching.
Keep sharp tools, metal objects, and other hard materials away from exposed glass surfaces. Avoid resting heavy items against windows, mirrors, shower panels, or other installed glass.
Before applying adhesive products, decorative films, or stickers, check that they are suitable for your specific type of glass.
Shower Enclosures
Regular maintenance can make a big difference in keeping shower glass clear.
Use a squeegee after showering to remove excess water and reduce soap residue and mineral buildup.
Clean the glass regularly using products that are appropriate for the surface. If your shower glass has a protective coating, follow the care instructions provided for that product.
Avoid abrasive cleaners and scrubbers, which may scratch the glass or affect coatings and hardware.
Windows and Sliding Glass
Keep window tracks, channels, and moving components free of dirt and debris so windows and doors can open and close properly.
Periodically inspect seals and glazing for visible signs of wear.
If you notice persistent moisture or fogging between panes of an insulated glass unit, contact us for an assessment.
Mirrors
Use a soft cloth and a gentle glass cleaner when cleaning mirrors.
Whenever possible, apply the cleaner to the cloth instead of spraying directly onto the mirror. This can help prevent moisture from collecting around the edges.
In bathrooms and other humid areas, good ventilation can also help protect the mirror over time.
Insulated Glass Units
Insulated glass units contain multiple panes sealed together to improve energy performance.
Avoid exposing the glass to sudden, extreme temperature changes where possible.
If condensation develops between the panes, the seal may need to be inspected.
Chips, Cracks, and Other Damage
Small chips and cracks can spread, particularly when glass is exposed to pressure or temperature changes.
If you notice damage, avoid putting pressure on the affected area and contact Top Cat Services | Glass as soon as possible.
Temporary protection may help prevent contact with the damaged area, but it should not be considered a permanent repair.
Hinges, Locks, Handles, and Tracks
Glass installations often rely on surrounding hardware to operate safely and smoothly.
Keep hinges, handles, locks, rollers, and tracks clean and check them periodically for looseness or wear.
If something is not operating properly, stop forcing the hardware and have it inspected before damage occurs.
